1. Impartiality and fairness
To ensure that our fact-checking work is unbiased and objective, we use the following tools:
-
we publish (in reverse chronological order) all content editing actions on the site, made by any contributor (including moderators); to view this history, navigate to the Dignitas user profile page, "Actions" section (an example here);
-
we publish (in reverse chronological order) all actions to edit a statement/promise/change of mind collected on Dignitas.ro; to view this history, navigate to the page of a statement and look for the "3 vertical dots" menu located in the lower right-hand corner of the "To be verified" section, click on that menu and select the "show versions" option, then you will be redirected to the "Statement history" page (an example here);
-
we publish (in reverse chronological order) all actions to edit a response (the text of a check); to view this history, navigate to the page of a statement, to the "Response(s)" section, look for the "3 vertical dots" menu located at the end of the response (bottom right), click on this menu and select the "show versions" option, then you will be redirected to the "Response history" page (an example here);
-
we publish the total number of statements, promises and changes of mind collected for each of the main political parties; this is automatically calculated and displayed on the party's profile page, in the "Statements" section (statistics in the table below);
-
the verdict given by a moderator to a statement/promise/change of mind is verified by the other moderator of the site; the verification is visually marked on the statement page by a positive vote using the "positive vote" button (thumbs up).
As of 05/29/2026, these were our statistics for the main political parties (the parties in power in the last 10 years, plus the main opposition party):
| political party | total no. of collected statements | total no. of verified statements |
|---|---|---|
| PSD | 102 | 58 |
| PNL | 121 | 69 |
| USR | 110 | 53 |
| UDMR | 11 | 9 |
| AUR | 34 | 25 |
To ensure that our political fact-checking work does not focus excessively on any particular political party, we try to be guided by the statistics in the table above when looking for the next statement to pick up or verify.
